How Do You Cook Chicken Breast On A Pit Boss Pellet Grill?

This tutorial is designed exclusively for the Pit Boss grill. That being said, it will work with whatever brand of pellet grill you own. Because each pellet grill is unique, the only change will be the temperature settings.

Using a Pit Boss Pellet Grill to Cook Chicken Breasts

The Pit Boss grill makes it simple to cook chicken in a variety of ways. You can cook chicken wings, drumettes, quarters, spatchcock chicken, beer can chicken, whole chickens, and so on.

Pit Boss Chicken Breast Is It Good to eat?

Essentially, the Pit Boss can cook chicken in the same methods that you would cook chicken in an oven or convection oven at home. The main difference is that you may use different flavored pellets, and you can even smoke the chicken before cooking it.

Season the chicken well.

After you’ve thoroughly cleaned the chicken, it’s time to season it. Seasoning chicken may be done in a variety of ways.

When in doubt, I reach for my go-to seasonings: olive oil, black pepper, and kosher salt. If you’re in a hurry, this is the best method to season chicken.

That being said, the last time I cooked chicken breasts on the pellet grill, I seasoned them with:

  • 1/2 cup Soy Sauce (Low Sodium)
  • a quarter cup olive oil
  • 2 garlic cloves (grated)
  • 1 inch grated fresh ginger root (remove the skin)
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar (I used light brown)

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the marinade ingredients: soy sauce, olive oil, garlic, brown sugar, and ginger.
  • Place the chicken in a big freezer gallon bag and pour over the marinade.
  • Seal the bag and rotate the chicken around to ensure that the marinade coats the whole chicken breast.
  • Simply place the chicken in the refrigerator for 5-6 hours. I recommend marinating the chicken in the marinade overnight for a more delicious flavor.
  • Allowing the chicken to marinade for 24 hours will assist it to taste more flavourful. That being stated, you should never marinade your meat for longer than a day.
  • Some individuals believe that you should never cook cold chicken. Allow it to come to room temperature for 15 minutes before putting it on the grill.

Personally, I’ve never had a problem cooking cold chicken. However, you may use the Pit Boss to cook frozen chicken. It will, however, take much longer than cooking thawed chicken.

Turn the temperature down to 350°F if you’re not going to smoke the chicken before cooking.

What temperature should I cook chicken breast at on the Pit Boss?

Cooking the chicken on a low heat for an extended period of time may cause it to dry out. Remember this if you chose to smoke your chicken at 180 degrees before cooking it.

Personally, I’ve never smoked my chicken breasts before grilling them, yet they always have a smoky flavor.

What P-setting should I use on the Pit Boss to cook chicken breast?

When I prepare chicken, I leave the grill on the default P4 factory setting. If you’re cooking on a cold day, you should lower the P-setting.

Apple, cherry, hickory, and competitive blend pellets are the finest for chicken. Any of these pellet flavors will assist to improve the flavor of mild-flavored meats such as chicken.

Preheat the grill for the chicken.

How Long Do Chicken Breasts Take To Cook On The Pit Boss?

Cooking time for chicken breasts at 350°F is 20-30 minutes. Smaller chicken breasts will cook in 10 to 12 minutes.

Cooking time for the chicken breasts I prepared was 30 minutes.

However, the cooking time will vary depending on the thickness of the chicken breasts.

The safe internal temperature for your chicken, regardless of size, is at least 165°F (74 degrees Celsius).

Undercooking your chicken is the worst thing you can do. It has the potential to make you and your visitors ill. Overcooking your chicken can result in tough, dry poultry.

To keep an eye on your chicken, make sure you’re using a decent meat thermometer. Remember, you’re aiming for a temperature of 165°F.

Should the chicken breasts be flipped?

You’ll want to turn the chicken if you want grill marks on both sides. Keep an eye on the chicken and flip it to the other side when it gets white.

However, you should only flip the chicken once since flipping it more than once will cause the flesh to dry out.

Period of Rest

When the meat has achieved a safe internal temperature for ingestion, take it from the grill using tongs. Place the chicken on a plate and let aside for 5-10 minutes before slicing it.
